THE GRAVE MISTAKE |

Here again I must bring to forefront the absolute sovereignty and kingship of the invisible, omnipotent, omnipresent, eternal God. He is majestic in His Oneness. What an awesome truth! Take this truth into your heart and meditate on it…absorb it into your intellect…establish it firmly in your thoughts…let it govern you. He is the beginning and ending of all life. To believe contrariwise is truly self-deception. I have often contemplated God’s abhorrence to liars. To my shame, I have been guilty of the breaking of that commandment many times over in my own life, and have had to seek God’s forgiveness for my untruthfulness. The insanity of it all is that I was capable of even lying to myself. Unbelief, disobedience, and rebellion all have their root in self-deception. Self-exaltation, vanity, haughtiness and pride stem from the same source. Is it any wonder that God hates liars? God is incapable of lying and is completely true to Himself. To fully understand this we must go back in time before the creation of mankind. The archangel Lucifer…known also as Satan or the devil…made the drastic mistake of deceiving himself. He exalted himself…became exceedingly proud…and sought to dethrone God. Over and over he lied to himself until he was convinced that God no longer held the right to sovereignty and he could usurp the throne of God. His vanity became his downfall. God exerted His authority and alienated Lucifer from His presence. He did not abide in the truth and no longer was the truth in him and never again would be. Adam and Eve dwelt and thrived in the Garden of Eden, enjoying the abundance of all that God had created for the subsistence of their physical wellbeing. In the cool of the evening, God would walk and talk with Adam and this intimate relationship would nourish the spirit and soul of the man. Then along came a lie. It was in Satan who had disguised himself as a serpent. After convincing Eve to disclose that God had commanded that neither her nor Adam should eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil or they would surely die…he offered up his lie. KJV Genesis 3:4-5 4And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die: 5For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil. God’s commandment to Adam was…KJV Genesis 2:17 But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die. The old term…swallowed up a lie…is very applicable in this instance. Through the influence of Satan, Eve denounced the sovereignty and kingship of God, deceived herself, tasted self-exaltation, disobeyed and partook of the fruit and in turn Adam did the same. As with Satan they were both cast out of the garden and the presence of God and died a spiritual death, which led to God decreeing that sin would lead to their physical death. God had to eradicate them from the garden to keep them from eating of the tree of life…For if they eaten from that tree in their condition the lie would have lived forever. Through the sin of Adam all men are born in sin. Sin has alienated all men born, from the presence of God. Outside of God’s presence death still reigns but in His presence there is life. Follow God. He humbled Himself…clothed Himself in humanity…as Adam was tempted, so was His humanity…yet He did not exalt His humanity and sin …there was no self-deception. He dwelt in the truth and the truth in Him. Related Scripture:
