RENTING OF THE VEIL |
|

Jesus is
the way, the truth and the life. No one can have access to God
except through Him. He is the door. He became our eternal High
Priest. Every year the high priest took the blood of the
unblemished lamb and went beyond the veil in the tabernacle to the
Holiest of all and sprinkled the blood on the mercy seat to atone
for the sins of the people. Jesus fulfilled it all. Not only was
He the unblemished lamb, unmarred by sin, he was also the
sacrifice and unlike the lamb, He gave His own life. He overcame
the flesh and was purged…cleansed…going beyond the veil to
sprinkle His own blood on the mercy seat for the sins of the whole
world. It was the final sacrifice. No longer would the blood of an
animal be sufficient to atone for sin. Now the man must die. Jesus
died a physical death. He died in our place. Sinful we deserved
death. Sinless He did not deserve death. What a friend we have in
Jesus. Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his
life for his friends. We do not have to physically die, but must
die to ourselves.
Just before Jesus died on the cross that day and the spirit left the body, the veil in the temple was rent in two, from top to bottom, exposing the Holiest of all. It was at that moment that the course of how man met with God changed forever. The Ark of the Covenant, the golden candlesticks, the table of shewbread…every ornament…every utensil became nothing more than pieces of metal wood and stone. The glory of God was no longer there. No longer would the glory of the almighty God be housed in a building…contained in a wooden box…hidden behind a veil. It would be housed in a tabernacle and temple not made with hands. God’s glory would now be in its rightful place…where it was intended to be from the first of time…in His own likeness and image…in the spirit, soul and body of His creation…mankind. We now have access to the Father through Jesus Christ. He became our ultimate pattern. He is the way. Despite contrary opinions we do not attend our churches to meet with God. We must never forsake assembling ourselves together and worship God corporately, but we take the God inside of us to the building to meet with the needs of those who attend and for the edification of the body of Christ. We do not attend to have church. We are the Church! God does not see the beauty of the Solomon-like structures any longer. His temple is in the heart of the man. How beautiful! Millions and millions of dollars have been spent to house people in the exquisite luxury of enormous, elaborate buildings, far exceeding what is necessary to get in out of the weather and be warm and dry. God no longer dwells in a temple made with hands. Imagine if all the tithes and offerings spent to erect all these had gone to build a modest meeting place and to feed the poor…house the homeless…clothe the naked…bring the gospel to the dying world…how great then would be the ministry of the body of Christ. The truth really does make us free. We have been delivered from the power of darkness and have been translated into the kingdom of His dear Son. We are now walking in newness of life. We are partakers of His inheritance. We must pattern ourselves after the Son, who is the firstborn…the forerunner…the first to be redeemed from the death decreed in the Garden. The inheritance is there…ours for the taking…the Promised Land is ours. All principalities, dominions, thrones, powers…heavenly or earthly…visible and invisible…were created by Him for Him. We are being tried in our wilderness and are maturing from babes in Christ to knowledgeable, responsible sons of God. God does not entrust His inheritance to babes any more than you would give your children responsibility over their inheritance while at a very young age. Individually we must reach the level of maturity in Christ to shoulder the Ark of the Covenant and cross the Jordan into the Promised Land. Only a priest can carry the ark and we are to become kings and priests in the kingdom of God. The ark in our spiritual temple is still in the Holiest of all. When we are first translated into the kingdom of God through our baptism into His death and His spirit dwells within our tabernacle we are still faced with the same dilemma as the nation of Israel. There is a veil in our temple separating us from the Holiest of all. It is the veil of our flesh... precisely the reason that God commanded that the veil be erected in the first place. It was the flesh that separated the children of Israel from God also. We are saved from sin through the plan of salvation but the Holy Spirit still resides in a body of flesh. In order to take our rightful place as kings and priests our veil must be rent. The man Christ Jesus had to completely die to the flesh to enter into the Holiest of all. If our veil of flesh is rent completely we can enter in also. Following the sensual fleshly man will lead a person back into willful sin. The death must be complete. We must walk completely after the spirit and not after the flesh. Year after year the High priest went behind the veil for the atonement of the sins of the people. I one day saw that I was using the sacrifice and priesthood of Jesus in the same manner. Through study of the word I became aware that He, through the cross, had atoned for my sin once and for all. The more I lived after my flesh and sinned, the more times He had to relive His crucifixion. I was continually relying on grace not the power of the Spirit of the God that resided back behind my veil. Rent or rip apart your veil. Let yourself be purged from all unrighteousness that is inherent in the flesh. Symbolically sprinkle your blood on the mercy seat. Once the old man is completely crucified then the inheritance is yours for the taking. Cross your own personal Jordan River, bearing the ark…the power of the Almighty God. Thank God for His grace, mercy and longsuffering and goodness. Glorify and praise Him for translating you out of darkness and setting you in His kingdom where His Spirit rules…where there is righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Ghost. When we get beyond the veil and see His glory our trials will seem so small. Every sacrifice will be worth it. Be purged as He purges you. Be cleansed by the river of Life. Desire life in His Kingdom. His kingdom is here…it is now…and unlike the temporal kingdoms of fleshly men it is everlasting and eternally ours if, like Christ, we are humble and obedient…faithful to the cross where our flesh dies...and as He arose and ascended so shall we…victorious over death, hell and the grave.
